PPS Awarded Multi-Year Task Order for Security Architecture from FSA

The Department of Education, Office of Federal Student Aid has awarded PPS InfoTech a multiple-year task order for the Installation, Configuration, and Application Integration of Security Architecture (SA) tools.. This project shall build upon the architectural components and sustaining engineering services required to maintain and enhance the ITA and EAI as part of the overall effort to support the FSA Integration Program. Support is required for around the clock production services, typically called “24X7” support or “Help Desk” operations. PPS's technical approach is based on the twelve life cycle phases of Security Architecture Implementation (SAI). PPS will implement a TAM/TIM-based physical security infrastructure to secure the FSA domain and to integrate its applications. PPS will design and create FSA directory schemas and initialize them with IDS and DB2 systems to support TAM and TIM.

The main objective is the protection of data from being damaged or maliciously accessed, and the consistency across the FSA environment. Tivoli Access Manager (TAM) supports authentication and authorization functionalities and includes WebSEAL, and Policy Server. TAM, with its reverse proxy security server, WebSEAL, provides a mechanism for single sign-on (SSO) features. WebSEAL also creates and maintains a session with the user and provides URL-level authorization. TAM can integrate back-end application servers using the Global Sign-On mechanism to third-party user registries or extensions to the TAM schema to include legacy user identities and passwords.
